In Ottawa, parents joke that you need to join a daycare waitlist before you even conceive. Unfortunately, that joke is a stressful reality for many of us.
After my second maternity leave, my return-to-work date was fast approaching, and I still had no daycare spot in sight. I postponed my return, hoping for a breakthrough, but nothing happened. Desperate for a solution, I approached senior management about my childcare struggles. We agreed on a compromise: I would work from home and hire a private nanny/babysitter to care for my child during the day. While the arrangement seemed perfect on paper, the reality was incredibly challenging. Hiring a nanny/babysitter cost me $128 for a full day or $60 for a half-day. Then came the unexpected hurdles: frequent nanny/babysitter sick days. Suddenly, I found myself trying to meet work deadlines while simultaneously parenting. It was exhausting, frustrating, and unsustainable.
During one of my most overwhelming moments, I had an epiphany. I wished for a community of like-minded, work-from-home parents facing the exact same challenge. What if we could all gather in one productive space, collectively hire a professional caregiver, split the cost, and work together? We could focus on our careers, steal glances at our little ones, and enjoy midday cuddles on our breaks. That spark of inspiration is how SN Parenthood Club was born.
What is SN Parenthood Club?
We are a collaborative community designed to help remote parents thrive professionally without sacrificing peace of mind.
Please note: We are not a daycare or a childcare centre.
